Jewellery

All these items of jewellery have been 100% hand-crafted by myself. There are no mass-produced or imported items but all are my own individual creations.

This section is now up to date. There are two parts: The first shows NECKLACE & EARRING SETS and NECKLACES on their own. The second (Miscellaneous) shows EARRINGS only.

Having discovered a new (for me) and fascinating hobby involving beads, I have now become an addict - or more correctly a "bead enthusiast."

This of course eats into the "spare time" left over from painting, writing poetry and children's books, playing tennis, walking the dog and doing the usual household chores.

It began with my buying an earring stud to replace one lost from an old pair of earrings, and before I knew it a tempting collection of glass beads began appearing in my plastic fishing box, just begging to be threaded and created into new and strange creations.

Beads were being sourced from all over the place and these new ones joined my collection, which was being added to and subtracted from, emerging as new necklace designs, some complete with matching earrings.

It's not just about threading beads - which of course if a very basic requirement - but also creating original and sometimes complex designs with the aid of silver and other coloured wire. Many of the necklace chains I have hand-made by twisting and linking lengths of wire.

Lately the urge to create my own beads has taken over, and by using modelling clay I have experimented successfully with a few designs different from the usual bead look. Although basically the same, no two are completely identical as that is the unique attribute of truly hand-made items.

Have also made a foray into the world of "buttons", which are very trendy at the moment as a "fashion" accessory. I find combining an assortment of buttons and beads is a challenge and am persevering with what I can produce along these lines.

There are undoubtedly many new and different ways to create hand-made jewellery, which are yet to be discovered - but I will find them, never fear! (lol).

I hope you enjoy browsing through photos of my collective efforts - prices do not reflect the many hours of planning and constructing same.

Thank you for looking. Cheers, Georgie
